My good friend Michelle is having her first baby this year. Decorating a nursery can be a fun but stressful process because baby's rooms have an entirely different set of needs than any other room in the house. For example, the room setting should invoke a calm atmoshphere, this can be achieved with lighting and color. Also a nursery is limited in terms of furniture selection.
I think the basic furniture in a nursery should include;
1. Crib
2. Changing table
3. Storage
4. Comfortable chair
Lighting can play a key role in nursery design. A statement chandelier would set the whole tone for the room. I particulary love the lighting from
Tord Boontje. His designs are whimsical and definitely focal pieces, though not exactly affordable. Thankfully there are some more affordable options out there.
This lamp is from Ebay and very affordable and cute.

Color is another important element in a child's room. Muted colors - blues, yellows, pinks, and greens are the best.

From the images above there are a few common themes; lighting, color and wall decals. Wall decals are any easy way to add a fun design element to any room.
I love this decal from
Blik.
