Crochet? Really?

According to this month's issue of House Beautiful crochet is making a comeback. I was as shocked as you are. Even the word "crochet" invokes images of my Nana's dollies. The example that House Beautiful provided was of the top picture from Italy based Neo who has developed a neat spin on the traditional crochet items. They molded the bowls out of neoprene to create a rubber crochet pattern. The neoprene creates a more modern appearance. In fact all of the pictures above are a nice twist to the traditional crochet pieces that most of us are familiar with. I would proudly display these bowls in my home.

*If you google crochet images, the results are very funny and very suprising what creative skills some people have. Hint - some of the images are PG-13.

SATC Set Interiors

Sex and the City 2 came out this week and to celebrate Elle Decor ran a piece highlighting the interiors here. Samantha's office is my favorite.

Patio Design and Decor

It's interesting, I work in a studio filled primarily with Landscape Architects, yet I don't have the first clue about landscape or patio Design. In order to familiarize myself with the materials, plants, and furniture available, I went to my first resource - google. The sites and images are not very comprehensive. I was particularly interested in before and after pictures of bare yards and patios that have been transformed into private oases. There just isn't a wealth of information out there when it comes to landscape and patio design.

I did manage to find a few that I liked above. I really like the idea of creating an outdoor living room as pictured in the images. I think I could manage to design a patio but I still remain clueless when it comes to the foliage part.

The Gallery Events

I am currently in the process of wrapping up design on a new website for The Gallery Events. The Gallery Events is an event boutique specializing in glamorous event and wedding planning. The three partners, Lucy, Jessica, and Silvia, started the business in 2009. They all have an exquisite eye for design and impeccable taste. I highly recommend their services. They have offices in Dallas and Los Angeles. I hope you will check them out for your next event.

Favorite Things - May

I can't believe it's May already. May is always a busy month with fun outdoor activities, birthdays, anniversaries - all stuff I love. Since its May we have another installment of "My Favorite Things".

I used a birthday gift certificate to but a pair of FitFlops. I am sure most everyone is familiar with this new shoe technology. These flip flops are supposed to improve posture and build muscle strength. The jury is still out if they really work, but they are the most comfortable flip flops I have ever worn. I am more aware of the way I stand and walk in them. For $50, I think they are worth the money alone for the comfort factor. They come in a bunch of different styles and colors. I bought the Pietra style.

I set out to my favorite Dallas consignment store the other day for a brown leather purse. I love this store, but I am going to keep it my little secret for now. The deals are just that great! I ended up buying a blue leather purse instead of brown. I bought the bag because of the amazing leather and color. It's big enough to hold a large notebook too. As my friend put it, "your purses just keep getting bigger", well he was right! The designer is Italian, Madi Pelletteria, which explains why the leather is so soft.

Blog Love

Wow, it amazes me every day the amount of creative people who blog. It also amazes me that most people can make a living blogging.

Here are some of my favorite blogger's recent posts:

You must check out Design Sponge's Before and After Series. This house and bathroom are so colorful. I love being able to see the transformations from "blah" to awesome.

Check out these gorgeous photos from Cup of Jo's honeymoon. I would love to be able to stay at the Villa Fiorentino! The images are breathtaking.

Another favorite blogger of mine is Young House Love. They recently profiled Kara Paslay's house. I particularly like her DIY post on how to make a tufted headboard.

Inspired Spaces

To celebrate Cinco de Mayo in way that doesn't involve coronas and salsa, I present Mexican inspired spaces.
